Bacuranao Tower

Address:

Playa de Bacuranao, Habana del Este

Construction date:

1650

Author:

Juan Herrera Sotomayor

This is another fortification erected in the north part of Havana to extend the coastal defensive line. It was located at the mouth of the Bacuranao River, where the English disembark took place in 1762.

This rough stone building had a watchtower with square story of five meters in its laterals and wooden hip roofs. To access the upper level one was used in both sides of the tower for more than 150 meters. Those components are partially lost nowadays.
