This interesting example of convent and church highlights due to its urban characteristics for its sitting closing a street what matches the Baroque principles of using the buildings as back in the perspective of public spaces.
The church took about 90 years to be finished and it was under transformations during its construction. At the beginning it was conceived with only one nave but before be finished, it was remodeled and the interior premises were extended and the tower was built that later was destroyed by the hurricane of 1846.
The bell tower at the back was erected in the year 1884.
The ceilings are of Mudejar carved and ornate wood. The original altars of Baroque style were replaced by the current neoclassic ones excepting the side chapel which is preserved.
The convent is a two-story building and it is developed around a cloister yard.
In the middle of the courtyard there is a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus over a Baroque pedestal.
