It was bought in 1688 by bishop Diego E. de Compostela, to become it in a school for orphan girls. At that time the third floor was added outward-facing Obispo street. Also, the original tile ceilings were replaced by the current flat ceilings.

The cloister courtyard is of domestic architecture of that epoch, surrounded by galleries. Even though, one of them is conceived only to give order to the four façades facing this space because it does not correspond to any other premise.

The façades are so primitive. They are composed of relatively large plain stretches alternating with vertical spaces without any garnish or decoration. However, the façades are flanked by pilasters holding up elaborate entablatures. It is believed that the original door is that facing Obispo street.

The iron rails, balconies, blinds and the rest of the other façades are considered as products of subsequent improvements carried out.
